Patentverwag began work in the tiered
seating sector at the beginning of the
1980's, fitting the grandstands of Milan
sports hall with more than 6,000 shell
type seats.
Later in 1990, during the world cup, Patentverwag
Italia fitted out some important installations
and laid the basis at the same time for
the company's grandstand department which,
with the design of special armchairs,
has acquired more and more importance
over the years.
Patentverwag has installed at least 300,000
seats for stadiums and made more than
two hundred fixed and telescopic grandstands.
The telescopic grandstands that have been
used in the USA since the second half
of the 1800's, have gradually acquired
more importance in Italy too, proving
themselves to be essential structures
wherever the space available has to be
exploited in the best possible way for
different uses and purposes.
At present, Patentverwag Italia has a
range of tiered seating consisting of
four basic models of monolithic shell
type seats (the models ZERO, UNO, DUE
and TRE) and other types with reclining
back: models ZX and ZY.
The series of armchairs for grandstands
comprises two prestigious models, model
LTD and model SPA, the latter being quite
extraordinary for its exclusive characteristics.
The seat rotates into a vertical position
pushed by the force of gravity of the
backrest. When folded, the armchair is
just ten centimetres wide; when open,
the seat and the backrest provide a comfortable
seat 58 cm. in depth.
In the telescopic grandstand sector, Patentverwag
Italia has produced seating for up to
two thousand and has achieved the automatic
opening and closing of as many as fourteen
tiers of seats with the simple touch of
a remote control button.
Amongst the largest installations, mention
can be made of the 670-seat grandstand
in Pontebba (province of Udine), the 1,800
seat grandstands in the sports hall in
Pesaro, the grandstand in the sports hall
in Treviglio seating 1,200 on seats of
the ZX type with fold-down back: installations
of great prestige with superior quality
finishes, design and resistance to stress
and even to vandalism, features that are
also appreciated abroad.
Recent installations of great prestige
in Greece and the Middle East confirm
the appreciation of the worldwide market
to this new model that still in part has
to be discovered and appreciated.
